Now, let's talk about the magic word, "snug." It's like finding the Goldilocks zone of comfortânot too tight, not too loose, but just right. We're aiming for snugness that molds to your body like your favorite pair of skates, without any pinching, discomfort, or circulation cutoff. Your pads should be your skating BFFs, not foes!
Let's break it down further:
Knee Pads: Imagine a gentle squeeze that says, "I got you!" The velcro should either meet in the middle or at the end, creating a cozy fit that doesn't hinder your circulation.
Wrist Guards: These are your glove-like companions, fitting snugly with zero gaps. The plastic or shell loop should rest perfectly on your palm's heel, while the velcro buddies meet in the middle or at the end for a secure handshake.
Elbow Pads: They're like your arms' personal cheerleaders, giving a light squeeze without the tingly feeling. The top tab's text should face the world, letting everyone know you're skating in style.
Helmets: Ah, the crown of safety! Your helmet might give your temples a gentle hello, but no instant headaches are allowed. It should sit firmly without shifting forward as you nod your head. And remember, the front should sit right in the middle of your foreheadâit's your skating tiara!
But here's the grand finale: we recommend a fitting session with a pro to find your perfect helmet match. It's like the cherry on top of your safety sundae, ensuring that your gear fits like a charm.
Â
Now, fellow skater, you're all set! Suit up, glide with confidence, and rock the skating world. Remember, with the right gear, you're invincible. Safety first, smiles foreverâlet's roll!
]]>Feeling like your skate wheels are dragging instead of flying? Don't worry, we've got the scoop! It's time to dive into the world of bearings, those shiny little marvels that hold the key to unlocking ultimate speed and smoothness in your skating adventure.
So, you've noticed your wheels aren't spinning as fast as you'd like? Hold on tight because we're about to reveal the real culpritâyour bearings! These miniature powerhouses are the secret behind the spinning magic.
Â
Let's get to the bottom of this wheel-spinning mystery and rev up your skating experience!
Bearings are graded on the ABEC system, which is typically used for large bearings in industrial machinery. However, we can simplify it to gauge the overall quality and speed potential of our skate bearings.
ABEC 1-3 |
Subpar |
When it is in new condition, usually these barely roll or turn |
ABEC 3-5 |
Acceptable |
It works, but it may not last forever |
ABEC 5-9 |
Industry Standard |
This rolls well and lasts a considerable amount of time |
SWISS |
Outstanding |
Made in Switzerland with special materials and technology. They last for a long time but are pricey |
CERAMIC |
Top-notch! |
It works like a wonder but it is delicate and pricey |
Â
Â
So, don't let sluggish wheels hold you back. Give your bearings the attention they deserve, and you'll be racing through the streets in no time. Happy skating, and remember always to skate safely!
]]>First things first, letâs give those skates a personal touch by adjusting their hardware. Itâs time to dial them into our preferences and unlock their full skating potential!
Â
Introducing the superhero of skate tools: The Standard Roller Skate Y-Tool with Rethreader and the 10mm Y-Tool with Screw Driver Roller Skate Tool. With its mighty sockets, you can effortlessly tweak and remove wheels or trucks. And donât forget the trusty wrench for toe-stop adjustments. Itâs like having a magical toolkit for skate customization!
Now, itâs a spa day for your bearings! Cleanse them with care, but only if theyâve been skating with you for 6 months to a year (depending on how much youâve glided together). After removing the bearings, use acetone to remove the impurities, and finish off with a lube for that extra dose of bearing luxury. Your bearings will feel like they are zooming on clouds!
It is also time to make those skates sparkle! Whip out a magic eraser to give them a fresh and clean look. And if you want to lock in that vibrant suede color, unleash the power of Scotch Guard! Also, itâll be handy if you have sandpaper to remove those pesky marks.
Â
But we canât neglect the soft side of our skates â the bushings, pivot cups, toe stops, and wheels! Give them a check-up, ensuring theyâre in prime condition for your next skate adventure. Itâs time to unleash their full potential on the rink or street!
To make it easy, weâve listed some household essentials that arenât typically found at our store or local skate shops but will make your skate-care journey a breeze:
By showering your skates with love and regular maintenance, youâll glide through your skating adventures with joy and flair. Get ready to rock those wheels like a skating superstar! Letâs roll and make every skating session a blast!
Welcome to the magical world of skating etiquette â where harmony and fun go hand in hand, and everyone's invited to join the party on wheels! đșđŒ
Imagine you're at a skating rink, surrounded by fellow skaters, ready to rock and roll. But before you hit the floor with your dazzling moves, let's talk about the secret sauce that makes skating here a blast â skating etiquette!
Â
Think of it as the dance steps that keep the rhythm flowing. Just like any dance, skating has its own moves, and showing respect to others is the key to a great time. At the rink, it's all about being the kind of skater you'd want to skate next to. Give everyone enough space to groove, avoid traffic jams, and be the superstar of courtesy. Treat others' spins like you'd want them to treat yours â it's skating's golden rule!
Â
Now, let's take the fun outside. Imagine cruising down the sidewalk, feeling the wind in your hair. But watch out for dents and litter â they're like little dance partners waiting to surprise you. Outdoor skating etiquette is like being the hero of the pavement. Watch out for pedestrians, give a friendly nod to cyclists, and make the path safe and fun for everyone.
And here's the grand finale: protective gear! Helmets, pads, wrist guards â they're your VIP pass to the ultimate skating experience. Safety and style go hand in hand, making you the superstar of the skating world.
Â
So, fellow skaters, let's lace up those skates and hit the floor with more than just moves â let's bring courtesy to the dance. Etiquette isn't just rules; it's what makes skating a shared joy. Whether you're grooving in a rink or rolling outside, let's roll with respect, roll with kindness, and create a skating community that's as welcoming as it is awesome! đ”đ
]]>Get ready to dive into the labyrinth of roller skate fastening â because guess what? The way you lock in those skates can totally shake up your entire skating escapade!
Let's talk about the grand old tradition of shoelaces first. They're like the chameleons of the fastening world, adapting to your whims with a simple tug here and there. And oh boy, the world of shoelaces is your oyster! With colors that rival a rainbow, designs that mirror your wild spirit, widths that could be highways or byways, and textures that scream "take me for a spin," shoelaces are the ultimate self-expression. It's like your skates are saying, "Walk on the wild side, or should I say, skate!"
Velcro straps are like the superheroes of convenience. They're the skater's best friend when they just can't be bothered with complications. One swift motion and bam! Your skates are snug as a bug in a rug. No more fussing around with laces or loops â just smooth sailing into the skating wonderland. It's like magic for your feet!
Now, let's buckle up â quite literally. Ratchet buckles bring the world of roller skating and high-tech engineering together. Secure? Check. Adjustable? Check. Precision-tightening and easy-release? Double-check. They're like the James Bond of fastening mechanisms, ensuring you're locked in and ready for action. With ratchet buckles, you're in control, and your skates obey your every command.
But wait, here comes the real showstopper â the quick-lacing systems that are as cool as they sound. Ever heard of BOA? It's not just a name; it's a revolution. Imagine a dial that turns your skates into a second skin. No pressure points, no hassle â just a snug fit that feels like a warm hug from your favorite hoodie. BOA systems are the darlings of speed skaters and efficiency enthusiasts. So, if you want to be the Flash of the roller rink, these are your golden ticket.
Â
So there you have it â your guide to the fascinating world of roller skate fastening. Each option is like a key to a different realm of skating nirvana. Remember, it's not just about securing your skates; it's about securing your skating experience. Lace up, strap in, buckle down, or dial in â the choice is yours. Get ready to transform your roller skates into a snug-fitting extension of your skating soul, and let the good times roll!
]]>Â
Welcome to the safety symphony of the skating world â where caution meets fun in a harmonious dance! đ¶
Strap on your imagination skates, because we're about to take a whirlwind tour through the dazzling world of protective gear. Think of it as your ticket to a worry-free roller-skating extravaganza!
Â
Picture this: you, the fearless glider, skating through life's twists and turns. But before you dive into the ultimate adventure, let's talk about the safety saviors that transform skating into a smooth sail. Safety isn't just a rule; it's the superstar of the show when it comes to outdoor activities, and roller skating is no different.
Â
Enter the spotlight: this blog post, your ultimate guide to unlocking the secret recipe of a secure skating experience. It's like learning the magical incantations that will keep you safe, sound, and ready to roll. Roller skating is a dance with risk, but by equipping yourself with the right armor, you're stepping onto the stage with confidence.
Â
First up in the protective gear symphony is the star of the show: the helmet. It's not just a chunk of headgear; it's your guardian angel against any unexpected rendezvous with the ground. Think of it as your chic crown of invincibility, defending your brain from any slip-ups that gravity might throw your way. Safety has never looked so stylish!
But hold your applause, because the knee pads and elbow pads are stepping up next. They're the choreographers of protection, cushioning your graceful tumbles and spins with ease. Whether you're giving the pavement a high-five with your knees or showing your elbows a gravity-defying routine, these pads are your safety cushion, making sure every fall feels like a gentle landing on a cloud.
Last but not least, let's not forget our wrist guards â the unsung heroes of the skating realm. Wrists are the darlings of roller skating injuries, and these guards are here to save the day. Like the trusty sidekicks they are, they shield your wrists from fractures and sprains, turning every potential slip into an opportunity for a stylish recovery.
Â
So there you have it â the backstage pass to a safe and exhilarating roller skating experience. With the right gear, you're not just skating; you're soaring through challenges, twirling through obstacles, and dancing your way to victory. Safety and fun aren't opposites; they're the dynamic duo that will have you conquering the skating universe, one roll at a time!
]]>Embarking on the thrilling world of roller skating is like stepping into a universe of gliding possibilities. Whether you're aiming to zip through the wind like a roller coaster on wheels, pirouette and twirl like a figure skater, or engage in the fierce battles of roller derby, the right pair of roller skates can make all the difference. It's not just about strapping on any pair and hoping for the best - oh no, my friend, it's about finding that perfect pair tailored to your chosen style.
Imagine you're the Flash, burning rubber on the track, leaving a trail of smoke behind you. If speed skating sets your heart racing, then your skates should be tailored to match that adrenaline rush. Hunt down those skates with larger wheels â they're like the turbo boosters of the skating world. And don't forget about durometer, which measures wheel hardness. Harder wheels mean less friction and more speed, translating to a zooming experience that rivals your favorite action movie chase scene.
But if you're the kind of skater who's more at home expressing themselves through graceful twists and turns, artistic skating is your canvas. Picture yourself as a graceful swan on four wheels, and what you need are skates that offer the ultimate ankle support. It's like having your own bodyguard for your ankles, allowing you to paint the rink with the most intricate of moves without fear of losing your balance. A lower center of gravity is your secret weapon, giving you the stability of a Zen master on a tightrope.
And then there's the roller derby warrior within you, a fearless gladiator of the rink. Battle-ready skates are your armor, boasting durable construction that can take a pounding. Ankle support is your shield, protecting you as you face off against opponents. Customizable features are your arsenal, allowing you to tailor your skates to your unique combat style. It's not just a sport; it's a battle of wheels, and your skates are your trusty steed.
Before you dive headfirst into the wonderful world of roller skates, remember that the details matter. Wheel hardness, bearing quality, boot material â these are your tools of the trade. Your skates are more than just footwear; they're an extension of your skating soul. Understanding how these features align with your chosen style will transform your skating journey into a symphony of motion.
So, fellow skater, take a moment to ponder. Speed demon or graceful dancer? Fierce warrior or a blend of all things skate? The right skates are your keys to unlock the full potential of your chosen adventure. Strap in, lace up, and let the wheels tell your story as you carve your path on the smooth pavement of your dreams.
Â
Understanding how different skate features align with your chosen skating style will help you make an informed decision when selecting your skates.
Remember, choosing the right skates is a personal decision based on your skating goals, preferences, and comfort.

]]>Roller skating is a thrilling and liberating activity that allows you to glide gracefully on wheels, embracing the wind in your hair and the sense of freedom beneath your feet. However, to truly savor the joy of skating, finding the right fit for your roller skates is of utmost importance. Ill-fitting skates can quickly turn the experience into one of discomfort, blisters, and potential accidents. In this guide, we will explore the essential factors to consider when selecting the perfect pair of skates that will keep you rolling in comfort and style.
Â
The Importance of Proper Sizing
One of the critical aspects of selecting roller skates is paying close attention to the sizing charts provided by the manufacturer. Each brand may have slight variations in its sizing, so measuring your foot accurately is essential. Consider not only the length but also the width and arch support of the skates. Understanding your foot's unique characteristics will guide you in choosing the ideal fit.
Consider Foot Swelling
When engaging in physical activities like roller skating, your feet may experience slight swelling. To accommodate this, it is advisable to select skates that offer a little extra room. Keep in mind that you will be wearing socks, so factor this into your sizing decision. Choosing skates with adjustable features, such as laces or straps, can also help fine-tune the fit as needed.
Â
Online Resources for Sizing Assistance
If you are unable to visit a local skate shop, don't worry! Online resources can be a valuable tool in finding the right fit. ]]>The most important thing on your roller skates are the wheels â no doubt! Hereâs everything you need to know about adjusting your wheels for a smooth roll. Â
Youâll need a Y-Tool!
Your roller skate bestie is your Y-Tool. Place the corresponding section onto your roller skate screw.Â
This seems counterintuitive but trust the process. Using your Y-Tool, screw on (turn clockwise) your wheels as tight as you can â without overdoing it; of course, youâll need to unscrew them later. This gives you the same starting point for all four wheels to loosen more evenly.Â
Skater Tip: This step is especially important when readjusting your wheels after use.
Now that your wheels are at the same starting point take your Y-tool and turn the screw counterclockwise to loosen them to your desired speed. The looser the wheel, the faster it spins.Â
Skater Tip: Your wheels should not be loose enough to move up and down on your truck screw; if you hear a noise, theyâre too loose!
All 4 wheels should spin at the same speed to keep your skates balanced. Your goal is to have a smooth rolling skate. Donât be scared to readjust as needed until you get an even roll on all 4 wheels. Even if that means loosening, tightening over and over again.Â
Skater Tip: The more you roller skate, the easier this step becomes. Youâll better gauge how much you need to loosen each wheel. Practice makes perfect!
The tighter the wheel is onto the truck screw, the less it will spin. As you loosen a wheel, youâll see the spin become faster and faster.
If the wheels are too loose, youâll hear them moving around â do not skate on these! If theyâre too tight, itâll be hard to roll no matter how much pressure you apply to move forward.
Find the right balance between the two.Â
Balanced wheels spin at the same speed. When you roll your skate, it should go in a straight line.Â
Unbalanced wheels spin at different speeds. When you roll your skate, it will curve and not go in a straight line. This can mean just one wheel is unbalanced or maybe all four: in this case, readjust.Â
Thatâs it! Youâre good to roll out.Â
Now that youâre officially part of our Skate (S)quad, weâll ensure you have all the necessary info to properly care for and customize your skates.Â

Â
]]>Stop. Wait a minute! Read this post before you strap on your brand-new pair of quad roller skates.Â
Before you start rolling, youâll need to adjust and prepare your skates. After being assembled at the factory, your quads are sealed directly into their box and are too tight to use. In order to roll smoothly, make sure to follow these few essential steps.Â
Youâll need a Y-Tool! AKA the most important investment for a roller skater.Â
Remove all the plastic and stuffing. Before you step onto a hard surface, make sure your boots fit perfectly on carpet flooring. The added cushion ensures you'll safely try them on and gives you the opportunity to exchange your size if necessary.
Lacing your boot is all about your personal style and preference. Like any other lace up shoe (sneakers or boots), make sure the fit is snug onto your foot and ankle for maximum support and comfort.Â
This is probably the most important step. Using your y-tool, loosen your wheels to your desired preference. Make sure to keep them balanced and even for a straight roll. Balanced wheels mean that all 4 wheels roll at the same speed.Â
Skater Tip: Too much room between your wheel and truck screw is dangerous. But, if the wheels are too tight or off-balance this will prevent you from rolling smoothly. Find a happy medium.
A little goes a long way! Using your y-tool, simply rotate the screw about 45 degrees or your desired preference. This step helps you more easily lean side to side as you skate.Â
Skater Tip: The trucks should remain fairly tight and just need slight loosening from factory presets. Compared to the wheels, which have more wiggle room, you barely unscrew them!
Some roller skates have removable toe stops, which can screw off completely if you'd like. Or adjustable toe stops, which you can twist to your desired height.
Skater Tip: If youâre new to roller skating, keep the toe stops; theyâll help you balance and stop. Toe stops are part of the skate design for safety and support.Â
Thatâs it! Youâre good to roll out. Donât forget your helmet, knee and elbow pads. Itâs important to note that your boots will take some time to mold to your foot, kind of like a ballet pointe shoe or an ice skating boot. The more you skate, the more youâre roller skates will move with you.
Now that youâre officially part of our Skate (S)quad, weâll ensure you have all the necessary info to properly care for and customize your skates.

]]>Â Â Â Â Youâd think LA would get with the cool kid skate program, but youâd be surprised how few options there are for roller rinks in Los Angeles County that arenât a repurposed tennis court or flat concrete slab. Of course, we love the outdoors, but sometimes we have to get indoors while fighting the intense SoCal heat on a mid-summer day. Plus, thereâs a particular feeling while rolling on the smoothest of floors inside a rink that assures you no little pebble will ruin your momentum or grip.
Here are four, technically, three roller rinks to explore in LA. The fourth one is honorary due to its cultural significance to the skate community, so don't come for us when itâs very obviously not a rink! đ
Wait a minute. This is the one. If you're in LA, you have to stop by Moonlight. Featured in tv shows, movies and music videos throughout the decades, Moonlight Rollerway is LAâs staple roller rink. Most recently featured in the mega-popular HBO series, âEuphoria,â where Rue, Jules and Lexi are seen rollerskating in the 5th episode of season 1, â03 Bonnie and Clyde.â Not only is it aesthetically giving us all the retro vibes a roller rink naturally evokes, but itâs one for the skate history books. A must-see, I dare say, the most essential roller rink to visit while in the city of Angels.
Head over to Long Beach for this super cute pop-up roller skate venue that provides âa fun, safe and educational place for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the sport of roller skating.â General admission tickets range from $10+ and frequent skater passes are available for their all-age sessions. Super Instagram-worthy and filled with educational opportunities for those newbies starting their skate journey on 8-wheels.
Family ambiance, community-centered and an essential place for educating young skaters - head south near Huntington Beach to find the local Fountain Valley Skating Center. This is a great place to visit with your family or youngsters ready to strap on their quads. Whatâs extra special about this roller rink is that if youâre thinking about taking a skate class, they offer one on one lessons! Perfect for older crowds looking for that in-person experience that removes the anxiety about skating with pros in an open skate session. Plus, itâs an affordable option with open skate sessions for under $15 per person.
Okay, maybe weâre cheating, but the Roller Skate Dance Plaza is technically not a rink, but itâs a must-visit to get the full California experience. We'd be committing an atrocious sin if we didnât mention it in the LA curated list. Located in easy-going Venice, surrounded by palm trees and the bright blue sea, this is where groovy skate culture is happening! Immerse yourself in a funky ambiance filled with loud music and talented dancers. Heck, if you donât feel like skating, itâs an incredible spot to see and take a little inspiration from the passionate roller dancers. This is a local spot, so the info is slim. Just show up and show out!
Address: 1401 Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA 90291

We must admit, ice and roller skating go hand in hand. Although roller-skating is our thing, in these winter months, weâre happy to shed some light on our skating counterpart: ice skating!Â
So how do these two types of skating compare, you may ask?
We love that skating is deep-rooted in our culture and we can enjoy rolling in our favorite quads on city streets or inside the rink. Ice skating is totally the same vibe, but with a twist! Obviously, you need ice, but you can find an abundance of outdoor skating spots scattered throughout the states for the holiday season during the winter months. If youâre lucky enough to live somewhere where the temperatures are cold enough, you can even skate on local ponds and lakes. Weâre based in sunny SoCal, so thatâs something weâre totally jealous of our mid-west & east-coast friends!Â
Itâs safe to say that inline and ice skates are practically twins! Switch a blade for a set of wheels and youâre got yourself some rollerblades. As you transition from ice to cement or roller rink to ice rink, inlines and ice skates are practically interchangeable. The balance is pretty much the same. Each version holds its independent and exclusive perks, but in essence, the motion, technique and momentum are very closely aligned! More energy is placed into skating due to the friction of the ground. In contrast, ice more easily propels each stroke - thatâs not to say itâs easier. Still, the power needed to move is alleviated with the slippery ice.Â
One thing is for sure; skating is skating no matter what. Whether youâre being artistic and floating through the air, ballet and classical dance are always present. If youâre in need of speed, hockey and roller Derbies have got you covered! There is a freedom thatâs incomparable to the feeling of propelling through the air in ways unmatched by running or walking. There's a reason why people gravitate towards sports and activities that take us out of our normal day-to-to0day feelings and transport us to a new wavelength!Â
Ice skating, we love you. Suppose youâre comfortable on 8 wheels and havenât already tried ice skating. In that case, I recommend you switch over to some blades before the winter season is over! Trust us Skate (S)quad; you wonât regret the rush!

]]>Spooky season is here! So what better way to celebrate than to highlight some haunted roller rinks around the country. Check these three out and let us know if it's a myth, legend or truth....
The first stop on the haunted tour is St.Cloud, Minnesota- Skatinâ Place roller rink, to be exact! Full disclaimer, this is based on local legends and myths, but the story goes that the roller rink is built on top of former marshy farmland. The ghost of a boy named Gilbert roams the rink. Although there are no existing records, Gilbert is said to have drowned face down in the swampy, water-filled fields. His ghostly spirit is now blamed for most âparanormalâ occurrences throughout the rink.Â
So whatâs the creepy buzz? Arcade machines, music and lights will turn themselves on and off throughout the night. From time to time, you can also hear footsteps on the rooftop. Customers cruising the roller rink have claimed to have seen a face appear from behind an air vent. The staff denies these claims, but why donât you go ahead and check it out for yourself!Â
Location: 3302 Southway Dr, St Cloud, MN 56301

Oh, Florida. For some reason, we believe this may not be the most chilling story to come out of the state. The Deadly Rival Roller Derby team from Pinellas County honestly believes their roller rink is haunted. Check out this ghouly figure, who photobombed their picture here. I mean, if thatâs not prime photo evidence that indeed there is something unexplainable there, I donât know what is.Â
Apparently, the skate rental room gives off creepy, âyouâre not aloneâ vibes that can only be explained if you experience them yourself! Bathroom lights turn on by themselves. Most importantly, staff has claimed to see a shadowy figure crawl on the rink and other claim to have seen some kind of movement through a door after closing. SO SCARY! I think weâll pass on visiting this one and weâre sending lots of positive vibes to their team!

Ok, so this roller rink is now closed but apparently, it was very, very haunted. At least according to the Sun Journal, they reported a vast mission to extinguish the otherworldly spirits from the premises. It is rumored that the haunting spirits would make you fall as you cruised through the rink. Weird feelings filled the room and once a psychic reported that they felt negative energy in the space. I guess weâll never really know about this one, but itsâ infamy will live in the quiet town of Topsham, Minnesota.Â

Learn to balance on carpet.Â
I know it sounds crazy to skate on the carpet, but you're not actually skating. A best practice is to strap on your skates, then learn how to stand and balance on a soft surface. Once youâre comfortable on eight wheels, you can transition to skating on hard pavement.Â
When you receive your skates, the wheels may be a little tight straight out of the box. Grab a standard Y-tool to loosen or tighten the roller skate wheels based on your desired roll. Hereâs a video using a y-tool for reference.Â
Watch a video on how to replace your wheels here.
Adjustable toe stoppers, as found in the Dark Magic Collection, need to be adjusted to the perfect height for you! Itâs super easy. Just twist on and off until you get your desired height. Just in case you forgot: Righty Tighty (shorten), Lefty Loosey (lengthen).
When strapping skates, you want to make the laces tightly secured. Thereâs nothing worse than ill-fitting skates. If you want a little extra customization, you can replace the colors or tie them using different methods.Â
Check out three super cute lacing techniques here.Â
Okay, so there are some things everyone just needs to know when getting on eight wheels.Â
Â
Approach your stop with confidence! The harder you press, the faster you will stop. If you hesitate, you may lose and balance and fall. That isnât the worst thing that could happen, but if no one ever tells you, you will never know.Â
Pro-Tip: Some skaters press down on the knee of leg (A) to apply enough force to stop.Â
Skate (S)quad, stay tuned for more tips and tricks! In the meantime follow us on Instagram.Â
Special thanks to our gorgeous model @elektricangel_!Â
]]>Yes, and as the very wise Taylor Swift once said, âForever and Always.â We might just be a little biased, but we wholeheartedly believe in the power of 8 wheels! Hereâs why:Â
Skating is utter bliss. Nothing beats the feeling of strapping on your boots and laces as you prepare for a day filled with fun! There is something very liberating knowing that you can just roll anywhere you want to go. Remember when Heely sneakers were all the rage? You would trip on the concrete and get massive bruises but still skated on them time and time again! Thatâs the kind of liberating feeling we get when roller skating. Except C7skates are professionally made and designed to withstand the heavy use of a real roller skating fanatic! Skating on eight wheels is total freedom, nonetheless.Â
Exercise but make it fashion! I donât know about you, but when I strap on my skates, I feel like I am on top of the world (mainly because I gain quite a few inches with the wheels, lol), nothing can stop me and I am a force to be reckoned! More than anything, that instant power rush pushes you to be active and get outdoors. We all need that confidence especially given the year we have all had. Let us stay active, healthy and thriving as we cruise down the streets, having a blast!Â
Roller skating culture has a natural edge. Even if youâre wearing the adorable Peachy Keens, by the sole act of roller skating, you're engaging in years on years of counter-culture. Roller skating is punk rock. More on that next time. With that comes inclusivity regardless of gender expression, identity, socio-economic background, or race. For that reason alone, thatâs something we can wholeheartedly stand behind!Â
I donât know about you, but I am one happy person if good bops are playing. Roller skating has always had deep ties to music and dancing. When roller discos came around, they literally operated on the idea of meshing a nightclub vibe with skating. Picture this: cute outfits, rad people and fantastic music playing as you dance effortlessly through the rink with your favorite songs! Sign me up and take my money any day! That sounds better than anything in this world right now.Â
Creative people like creative outlets. Roller skating seems to fit a wide range of creative people. Despite the trends coming and going, roller skating has maintained a significant part in the creative world. From athletes to performance artists, time and time again, we see little pieces of the roller skating style and aesthetic float back into the mainstream. Who doesnât love a creative outlet that has wheels and an endless amount of fun opportunities?
Roller skating is the best kind of skating. Sorry, not sorry! If you care to argue head on over to Instagram @c7skates. Give us a like while you're at it.Â
Â
]]>Venice, oh Venice, youâll find the laid-back California lifestyle every day of the week. Roller skating is HUGE here, with an eclectic mix of fantastic roller skaters jamming out throughout the coastline. This location is not exclusive to roller skating either, so if your squad consists of a few roller skaters and a few skateboarders, everyone is welcomed with open arms. Veniceâs only downside is that it is usually pretty busy since itâs one of the most visited beaches by tourists in LA county. Nonetheless, this is the essential SoCal vibe destination. Â
Â
About 30 minutes south of Venice is Hermosa Beach. The vibe is very similar to Venice and the ambiance is perfect for a roller skating day! Hermosa literally translates to âGorgeousâ in Spanish and let me tell you, the name is not in vain with chill vibes, good food and beautiful Southern California views. The most remarkable feature here, aside from the beach, is that youâll be able to skate on the boardwalk, which is 1,140 feet directly into the Pacific Ocean. Again, the views are incredible; images donât do this beach justice. We promise youâll have so much fun in the sun here!Â
Â
Suppose you're trying to skate for hours on end, speeding through feeling the breeze; in that case, you have to head to the LA River Trail. The paved, nearly 10-mile trail runs alongside the LA River through the heart of Los Angeles. Seasoned roller skaters love this location precisely because of the long straight path that will keep you moving forward and entertained until your legs give out, literally! This spot is also interesting because you get a downtown LA vibe with infrastructures and natural elements. You will find yourself surrounded by all kinds of fun activities, like, skateboarding, biking and of course, roller skating. If youâre in town, check it out!Â
Skate (S)quad, if youâre near LA or planning on visiting anytime soon, make sure to skate away at these super cool spots! Tag us at @c7skates, #c7inaction.Â

Weâre so obsessed with 1970âs ICONs that three inspired the style and aesthetic of this collection.

Â
Imagine a moment where youâre staring into the fluffy white clouds floating oh-so gracefully on the pastel blue sky. Slowly, the warm sheen of the sun gently caresses your face, and your heart is at ease. Now in a mesmerizing daze, youâre transported to the breathtaking Southern California coastline. To your left, the Pacific Ocean breeze tickles your nose, and palm trees everywhere shade your eyes from the glistening rays. You look down to the ground and guess what - youâre wearing your Forget Me Not Roller Skates!Â
Whether this is an authentic moment or a dream, these are the unforgettable memories that our Forget Me Not Collection recreates. Skinny jeans? We donât know them! Cargo pants will continue to be all the rage in 2021. The style is characterized by the loose cut pants with various pockets designed for tough outdoor activity. Perfect for a roller skating sesh- obviously! No purse or backpack necessary since you can stuff your pockets with your airpod case and keys before running out the house. Solo roller skate date? I think yes. Â

Do you have our Lemonpop skates? If you do, youâre a total trendsetter and if you donât no worries! You can accessorize away with yellow pops of color. Itâs simple, just throw on your favorite thrifted oversized t-shirt or sweater with oversized relaxed fit denim. The goal is to look like youâre effortlessly cool and didnât try at all. Thereâs something incredibly liberating about leaving the house in something that allows you to move freely, so much so that you automatically gain a cool aura. Try it and heads will roll as you skate down the street!

Itâs all about the skin, show off your radiant complexion -imperfections and all- and let your natural features shine through! Of course we love a graphic liner and a pop of color on the lip, but currently the vibe is keeping a clean canvas. A little makeup goes a long way as we now rely on routine skincare rather than cakey foundations and heavy contours to achieve an effortless glow. Less is more!Â

The trendiest 2021 accessory is most definitely the face mask! As you already know, staying safe is essential; especially when you decide to leave the house. Take a moment to style your masks in a cute way. Prioritize your mental health, grab your face mask and your skates to enjoy the fresh breeze as you cruise down your neighborhood- while social distancing of course. In all honesty, we canât wait for the end of this trend but until then Skate (S)quad, skate safely and responsibly.Â

]]>Skate (S)quad, weâre always looking for gear that will unite our community. If you want to spread roller-skating fun with your friends and family this season, give the gift of 8 wheels. The vibe is merry and very bright, here are some of our suggestions for skating must-haves this season.
Our Chibi Skates collection are the perfect skates for entry level skaters. These are an affordable option to get out there and cruise! There are so many perks to our original skates. The boot is soft and comfortable with a slight 1-inch heel to help with balance, great for learning skate basics. The classic white or black boot gives a clean canvas to add colorful accessories for a personalized skate style. Plus, weâve upgraded the wheels! So, you can now skate on smooth indoor and outdoor surfaces.Â
Imagine receiving a pair of the absolutely gorgeous Forget Me Not Quad Skates! Not only are they the cutest colors but they are incredibly long-lasting and with the proper care can withstand regular use on any smooth surface. The structured boot completely elevates these skates to a new level, fit for a roller-skating pro! The monochrome styles, Lemonpop, Peachy Keen and Aquamarine fully encompass C7skates distinct style and fabulous taste in color. Donât sleep on the contrasting floral print designs either, Blossom and Wonderland! All of our skates are extremely customizable, check out our stocking stuffer gift ideas below for details.Â
So maybe your Skate (S)quad is already rocking their favorite skates? Stress no more! Grab the Skates Gal T-shirt! The design is simple and sleek, featuring the C7skates logo and a graphic design on a charcoal Tee. Imagine pairing this with your favorite high rise baggy jeans or tucked into some super cute shorts! The whole (S)quad can look chic and on brand for an adorable photo sesh. Donât forget to tag us on Instagram @c7skates.Â
Of course, skating is the best part of owning skates but a close second is customizing them! You can give someone a simple pair of skates; with a few tweaks they are transformed into a unique style. Gift a pair of laces, stoppers or wheels to your (S)quad to help them elevate and create the most personalized skates out there! Weâre very strategic with our color choices and they all complement one another, so donât be afraid of something not pairing well together. Â
Mix and match! Our laces sell out quickly because of our keen eye for color. Pick up a bright pair of laces to contrast any skates. For example, pair Lemonpop laces with our Peppermint basic skates. A color combo for the ages!Â
Most of our skate models have removable toe stoppers. Simply switching these out can make skates look new - and much safer! Stoppers are super easy to replace, just screw in and out with a standard cross screwdriver. The perfect stocking stuffer in so many different colors!Â
Wheels need to be replaced fairly often, especially if you're using your skates on the regular. Give some cool colored wheels and your friendâs skates will look incredibly fresh! Pastel hues are our thing, check out the Wonderland and Teal wheels. Â
Have fun choosing super cool gifts for your Skate (S)quad. If your friends already own skates, gift accessories and customize away. Weâll keep it on the down low if you grab a little something for yourself! đ
Â
]]>So, you thought you could escape the 2010s already? In honor of the current nostalgia kick here are our top choices for influential roller-skating music videos of the last decade. Get a little inspiration from the cool kids who loved roller skating before its revival! These are impossible to rank, so in no particular order:
Queen B has set the standard. The iconic Blow music video directed by Hype Williams was filmed at a local roller-skating rink Beyoncé frequented growing up in Houston, Texas. The energy is lively, flirty and fun with Beyoncé flaunting her moves as she cruises through the roller-skating rink in an appropriately chosen Wonder Woman baseball Tee. Beyoncé can truly do no wrong!
Peak Tumblr era! Cage the Elephant teamed up with Nick Murphy to produce a â70s static VHS tape aesthetic. They enlisted unnamed âfigure-skating world championsâ to dance alongside the down tempo funk track. They staged a roller disco heaven with a light show displayed behind the band and alongside the dancers as they parade their killer moves. Everything we needed and then some. Iâll take it! Â
It was a cultural reset. Truly. Chet Faker triggered a nerve we did not expect with an unforgettable video for his hit single âGold.â The video is directed by Hiro Murai and choreographed by Ryan Heffington. Faker is never featured in the video but rather the smooth moves of roller skating trail blazers Appleusa McGlynn, April Corley and Candice Heiden. The image of a dark night juxtapositioned with bright lit yellow road lines as Heiden heads toward the camera is forever imprinted in pop culture memories for years to come. If youâve been sleeping on this one, youâre welcome.Â
Baby Kali! The Rush music video by Kali Uchis left an impressionable impact on teens everywhere. The heavily stylized concept fully encompasses Uchisâs signature cool girl style with a retro twist aesthetic. This selection doesnât feature roller skating as much as the other videos listed. Regardless, this video has made a significant impact on the roller-skating fashion and triggered a skating revival amongst Gen Z. We love a good Kali moment.Â
If youâre a true roller-skating fanatic, this video merits the hype! The Heat music video by the English modern soul collective known as Jungle is that essential groovy mid 2010s jam. The video solely features the incredible dance skills of Icky and Silence from High Rollaz UK Skate Crew, a London based freestyle, street & jam skating team. Once again, the skating is so incredible the band doesnât even bother to compete for the limelight, choosing to refrain from starring in the video. Weâre obsessed with this one!Â
Â
]]>Are you obsessed with roller skating but youâre still trying to figure out your identity? Youâre in the right place. Let's find out which skating dance style suits you best! In honor of National Roller Skating Month, here are four different skating styles experiencing a pop-culture revival in 2020.Â
If you're interested in roller skating but donât really know where to start, this light hearted style might just be your perfect fit. Roller rinks are the backbone of roller skating and have been present in American pop-culture since the 70s. The floors are designed to maximize your skates control and are the ideal skating surface for most wheels. Oftentimes there will be themed nights featuring music from different genres and decades where attendees can dress up. This is a great way to meet like minded people and if the odds are in your favor you can get skating tips and tricks from seasoned skaters. Head to your local skating rink, grab your pair of skates and cruise onto the perfectly paved rink floor as you groove to throw back jams. This is your ticket into the community and the ideal entry level roller skating style.Â
Technique above all. If you love the drama and elegance of classic ballet, you might be an artistic skater. For all intents and purposes, artistic roller skating is the equivalent to figure skating -Â minus the cold environment, blades and ice. Romantic in nature, this style is characterized by meshing strong dance training and roller skating techniques. Therefore, this style requires a high level of technicality and athleticism while relying on muscle movement coordination to evoke emotion from the audience. There are an array of national and international championships featuring different categories, which closely align artistic roller skating to competitive dance and figure skating. If you're a trained dancer and love to perform, this is a great place to master artistry and athleticism. Artistic skating can satisfy your craving for freedom and grace.
Jam skating at its core is a dance sub-genre. Deeply influenced by breakdancing and hip hop culture, this style emphasizes rhythm and originality above all. The b-boy style fosters high levels of competition and performance. As a community based art form, there is a significant weight placed on congregation to practice and rehearse new moves. Dance battles are regularly held and are the binding glue in the community. Musicality plays a major role, hitting marks and choreographed movement to the rhythm of the music is essential. The more authentic to your personal skating and dancing style you can be, the more impressive your routines are. If youâre hip hop music savvy and can get down on the dance floor, this is your niche.Â
If you havenât already stumbled on Ana Cotoâs viral TikTok roller skating videos, where have you been this quarantine? Ever since the pandemic started, we have seen a vast increase in amateur freestyle roller skating dance. Everyone is welcomed to document their skating journey while posting videos cruising and living your best life. Roller skating influencers will record themselves freestyling, usually cruising down a street or on a tennis court. There is a strong emphasis on being outdoors, playing trendy music and expressing yourself in any way that seems fit. This is a natural progression once you have become accustomed to roller skating. If you love content creation and cruising sunny streets while dancing to your favorite songs then this is your skating style hands down. We might just catch you skating to âDreamsâ by Fleetwood Mac after reading this. Â
Do you feel inspired to pick up a pair of skates and vibe out? If you found a style that resonates with your personality, let us see your moves and donât forget to tag us on all platforms using #c7skates. Letâs skate together with some super cute C7 Skates!

]]>We promised you some cute lacing styles in a previous blog⊠and oh did we deliver! We scoured the vast internet and added in some of our own creativity to come up with these 3 different lacing styles!
They shouldnât be too tricky to follow and lace along if you watch the videos closely! If you need some new laces to make these lacing techniques pop even more, you can grab some here.
Of course, the most important thing to remember is that your safety should come first no matter what. So even if you use these lacing techniques, make sure they are fastened snugly against your foot and ankle!
So without further ado, we presentâŠ
Because of the tightly woven lace patterns, this technique reminded us of that pesky puzzle toy we all loved to get our fingers stuck in as kids. The reason this lace is so cute is because of how symmetrical the strings are wound. đ
To maintain that dazzling effect, make sure you are keeping the laces flat and straight as you go through the pattern. Donât be afraid to go back a few steps if you notice a lace turning the wrong direction â Youâll be glad you did!
Â
We were worried about this kind of lace being a little loose as you ride, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the way these laces are pulled creates a pretty tight hold around your foot and ankle!
Why the ballerina? Well, between the adorable, open lace near the top of the foot and the cute bow on top, how could we call it anything else? đ„°
Â
This lace feels very close to the last lacing technique, but it does a little better of a job highlighting the design of the skates âtongue.â đ If you grabbed yourself a pair of Blossoms or Wonderlands, this is a great chance to show off that super unique design that only you have!
We named it the pull under because, well, you have two pull both laces under one another to get this lacing technique to work. đ
If you try one of these lacing techniques, snap a pic and tag us in it or use the #C7InAction so you can be featured in one of our posts! Â
